چکیده

Abstract Herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth is a troublesome weed in several agronomic crops and relatively new challenge to dry bean production western Nebraska. Objectives were evaluate preemergence (PRE) postemergence (POST) herbicides for control of acetolactate synthase–resistant their effect on density biomass as well injury yield Field experiments conducted 2017 2019 near Scottsbluff, NE. The arranged two-factor strip-plot design. factor consisted no-PRE or pendimethalin (1,070 g ai ha –1 ) + dimethenamid-P (790 h applied PRE. main-plot was POST herbicides, which various mixtures imazamox, bentazon, fomesafen single sequential application at labeled rates, reduced rates imazamox (9 bentazon (314 (70 (two three) applications. PRE during both years increased 2017. treatments containing improved compared with only. sequential-application reduced-rate system did not improve one rate either year. Using followed by provided 86% 99% 2019, respectively.

Resistance to PPO‐inhibiting herbicide in Palmer amaranth from Arkansas

BACKGROUND The widespread occurrence of ALS inhibitor- and glyphosate-resistant Amaranthus palmeri has led to increasing use of protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO)-inhibiting herbicides in cotton and soybean. Studies were conducted to confirm resistance to fomesafen (a PPO inhibitor), determine the resistance frequency, examine the resistance profile to other foliar-applied herbicides and investig...

Seed Production Potential of Palmer Amaranth in Arkansas

Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth is the most troublesome pest in Arkansas cotton production. The prolific seed production, high germination rate, and rapid growth coupled with the lack of post emergence herbicide control options make this species a constant threat to cotton farmers. Sustainable control of Palmer amaranth requires careful management of seed in the soil seedbank. To emphasize...

Multiple-Herbicide Resistance Is Widespread in Roadside Palmer Amaranth Populations.

Herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth is a widespread issue in row-crop production in the Midsouthern US. Palmer amaranth is commonly found on roadside habitats in this region, but little is known on the degree of herbicide resistance in these populations. Herbicide resistance in roadside Palmer amaranth populations can represent the spread of an adaptive trait across a selective landscape. A lar...

Decreased Sensitivity of Palmer Amaranth to Glyphosate Through Selection

The evolution of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth is the result of overreliance on glyphosate alone for weed control in glyphosate-resistant crops. It is believed that the use of reduced glyphosate rates may have contributed to the evolution of resistance in Palmer amaranth; however, data to support this hypothesis are lacking. Therefore, an experiment was conducted in the greenhouse at the...

Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth: A threat to conservation tillage

Conservation tillage reduces the physical movement of soil to the minimum required for crop establishment and production. When consistently practiced as a soil and crop management system, it greatly reduces soil erosion and is recognized for the potential to improve soil quality and water conservation and plant available water. Adoption of conservation tillage increased dramatically with the ad...
